Origami box is the perfect container for a last minute gift basket when there's no other container at hand.

It might look complicated but actually it's very simple to make!

Below are easy to follow box folding instructions along with step-by-step diagrams and photos of the above box I made (the photos demonstrate how you can achieve a box even when all your folds are crooked...).

Before you start folding:

  1. Choose a sturdy gift wrapping paper any other pretty paper (not too thin so it does not rip).

  2. Cut it to a square depending on the size of the required box [ a 30*30cm (12*12 inch) paper yields a 11*11 cm (4.3*4.3 inch) box approximately].

Origami box instructions:

Step 1

Start off with a square paper pretty side facing down!

Step 2

Make 2 fold lines as in the illustration: Fold the paper in half vertically.
Open the fold.
Fold the paper in half horizontally.
Open the fold.

Step 8

Do the same on the other side of the box with parts D, E and F (the illustrations below are turned 180 degrees from the original state).

You can secure the flaps to the box floor with sticky tape.
