Origami Box - a Gift Baekt Container
Anyone Can Make!

Origami box is the perfect container for a last minute gift basket when there's no other container at hand.

It might look complicated but actually it's very simple to make!

Below are easy to follow box fodling instructions along with step-by-step diagrams and photos of a "live" box I made (the photos demonstrate how you can achieve a box even when all your folds are crooked...).

Before you start folding:

  1. Choose a sturdy gift wrapping paper any other nice looking paper (not too thin so it does not rip).
  2. Cut it to a square depending on the size of the required box [ a 30*30cm (12*12 inch) paper yields a 11*11 cm (4.3*4.3 inch) box approximately].

Instructions

1 Start off with a square paper pretty side facing down! (NOT like in the picture)
2

Make 2 fold lines as in the illustration:

Fold the paper in half vertically.
Open the fold.
Fold the paper in half horizontally.
Open the fold.

3 While page is still facing down, fold the 4 corners into the center.
4 You should then see the paper pattern as in the picture.
5 Next, fold the right side and then the left side to the center line.
6 You should receive a window like rectangle.
7 Do the same thing horizontally: fold the top side and then the bottom side to the center line.
8 You should receive a square as in the picture.
9 Next, unfold all the way back to step 4, leaving only the left and right triangles folded as in the picture.
10 With your fingers push at the back of point A and B to form the sides of the box.
11 once the box sides are standing, tuck in part C to form the third side of the box.
12

Do the same on the other end.

You can secure the flaps to the box floor with sticky tape.

13 And there you have it - your own hand made origami box!
